What is a Membrane filter press

A membrane filter press is a type of filter press that incorporates an elastic membrane positioned between the filter plate and the filter cloth. During operation, once the feeding process is complete, a high-pressure fluid or gaseous medium is introduced into the diaphragm plate. This causes the diaphragm to expand, pressing against the filter cake to achieve further dehydration, a process known as squeeze filtration.

Applications of Membrane Filter Presses:

Membrane filter presses offer several advantages, including high pressing pressure, excellent corrosion resistance, ease of maintenance, and reliable operation. They are the preferred choice for industries such as metallurgy, gas, papermaking, coking, pharmaceuticals, food, brewing, and fine chemicals. These presses are widely used in fields requiring solid-liquid separation and are considered an upgraded alternative to traditional chamber filter presses. They excel in processing capacity per unit area, reducing filter cake moisture, and adapting to the properties of processed materials.

Membrane Filter Press vs. Ordinary Chamber Filter Press:

The key distinction between a membrane filter press and a conventional chamber filter press is the presence of two elastic membranes on either side of the filter plate (with the composite rubber diaphragm being an integral diaphragm). During operation, after feeding is complete, a high-pressure fluid medium is injected into the diaphragm plate, causing the diaphragm to expand and press the filter cake for additional dehydration. This squeeze filtration process is particularly effective in sludge and sewage treatment, achieving filter cake moisture content below 60%. Compared to traditional chamber filter presses, the solid content of the filter cake can be more than doubled, significantly reducing transportation costs. The filter cake can even be directly incinerated in power plants, transforming sludge into resources and wastewater into clear water, effectively replacing van filter presses.

The robust and durable steel frame of the filter press consists of key components: a feed table with a filtrate outlet (head piece), a hydraulic table with a locking cylinder (press block), a beam, and separate membranes for the side rails. The filter plate includes filter cloth, and the plate pack comprises uniform membrane plates with a 15-50 mm cutout (with optional mixing chamber membrane filter plates) to accommodate puncture-resistant filter cakes. Standard membrane materials include polypropylene (PP), synthetic rubber (such as NBR, EPDM), or thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), with special materials like PVDF also available.

Membrane Filter Press Technology:

Membrane filter presses significantly impact the dryness of solids by utilizing membrane technology within the filter plate. Compared to traditional filtration processes, they achieve the lowest residual moisture levels in filter cakes, making them the most powerful and widely used systems. Special materials like PVDF are also available, further enhancing their effectiveness.

2.Pharmaceutical Industry: Used in the production of antibiotics like aureomycin, erythromycin, spiramycin, validamycin, midecamycin, tetracycline, berberine, and terramycin, as well as phytic acid calcium, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), alcohol, growth-derived yarn, organophosphorus, and saccharifying enzymes.
3.Food Industry: Applicable for producing rice wine, white wine, fruit juice, beverages, beer, yeast, citric acid, plant protein, plant-based sweeteners, glucose, malt sugar, stevia sugar, starch, rice flour, corn starch, liquid glue, monosodium glutamate, spices, sauces, oral liquids, soy milk, and algae products.
4.Metallurgy: Used in processing gold, silver, copper, iron, zinc, and rare earth powders.
5.Refining Industry: Effective in refining white oil, sesame oil, light oil, glycerin, machine oil, and vegetable oil.
